What takes a hundred years to make? attempts an overview of the history of Skånes konstförening, its archives and possible collection, intersected with nostalgic or political stories from the city, with personal experiences, and reflecting on the absence of keymoments of the history of the world from the narrative of the institution. It is an exhibitionof many layers and one that aims at using history as a pretext for asking contemporary questions, such as what are the roles and responsibilities of art institutions today, what is the role of memory and “heritage” in connection to the revolutionary “new” in art practices, what fears lay in the changing political climate, and how can one connect social activism to art in a fair and non-instrumentalizing manner?
