Through dexterously weaving together image, motion, technology and sculpture, her work tingles with electricity, immersing the viewer into a full sensory experience. Kanthi&#8217;s ability to collapse, reconstruct and merge, makes one feel connected and at times disconnected; reminded of what could have been and what can be.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Beyond a stipend of SEK 20 000, the award includes a curated exhibition at Sk\u00e5nes konstf\u00f6rening opening in January 2021. Curator of the exhibition is Tawanda Appiah.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Cia Kanthi<\/strong> (born 1984) a Malm\u00f6-based artist working with photography, video, and installations in which she explores connections between memory, perception, object, and history \u2013 often with the city of Malm\u00f6 as her starting point. She has exhibited at Eric Ericson Hall, Stockholm (2020), Konstn\u00e4rshuset, Stockholm (2020), The Museum of Sketches for Public Art, Lund (2019), Delfi, Malm\u00f6 (2018), The Centre for Photography, Stockholm (2017), among others. Cia Kanthi holds a MFA from the Malm\u00f6 Art Academy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>About the stipend<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p>Sven and Ellida Hjorts Exhibition Grant is awarded annually to an emerging artists based in Sk\u00e5ne. Hanni Kamaly was the first recipient of the grant in 2017, followed by LealVeileby (artist duo consisting of Ant\u00f3nio Leal and Jesper Veileby) in 2018, and Ikram Abdulkadir in 2019.\u00a0<br \/>The recipient is chosen by a jury appointed by the board of Sk\u00e5nes konstf\u00f6rening.
