Sk\u00e5nes konstf\u00f6rening is happy to announce that Matilda Tj\u00e4der is this year\u2019s recipient of Sven and Ellida Hjort\u2019s Exhibition Grant. Beyond a stipend of SEK 20 000, the award includes a solo exhibition at Sk\u00e5nes konstf\u00f6rening opening in February 2023, curated by Khamlane Halsackda.<\/p>\n
Matilda Tj\u00e4der\u2019s artistic practice is a sharp, resourceful and affective exploration of different worlds. Through experimental storytelling, Tj\u00e4der invites and delicately immerses us into new fictitious worlds, rendering bare the fickle structures of our own world. The works\u2019 dystopian tonality collides with the poetic meditations of text, performance, sound and motion with an undercurrent of humor subtly at play. With careful attention to other sensorial dimensions than sight, Tj\u00e4der leaves room for unexpected openings within the self, where transformation and refusals are always a possibility.<\/em><\/p>\n Matilda Tj\u00e4der is an artist based in Malm\u00f6 working with text, sound, performance and moving image.<\/p>\n Sven and Ellida Hjorts Exhibition Grant is awarded annually to an emerging artist from Sk\u00e5ne. Hanni Kamaly was the first recipient of the grant in 2017, followed by LealVeileby, Ikram Abdulkadir, Cia Kanthi, and Sana Jarrar. The awarded artist is chosen by a jury appointed by the board of Sk\u00e5nes konstf\u00f6rening.
