Skånes konstförening seeking Coordinator/Communicator, starting September 1st 2017

Skånes konstförening
Skånes konstförening is an association located at Bragegatan 15 in Malmö. The association is equipped with a large exhibition room used for exhibitions, program activities, and projects. The association has a long history and was founded by the group “Skånska konstnärslaget” in 1904. The exhibition and program activities at Skånes konstförening has given the association a prominent position in the city’s and region’s art life. The goal for the organization is and has always been to promote contemporary art in Skåne. The association’s activities are funded with contributions from the Arts Council, the region and Malmö City. In addition to this, individual projects, arrangements, and collaborations are sometimes funded by additional contributors.

Employment and compensation
40% full-time employment, monthly salary for full-time 24 200

The coordinator is responsible for coordinating workflows of the organization. They handle the planning and communications with artists and other participants for upcoming exhibitions and program events. The coordinator manages information flows between the board, employees and participants in exhibitions and programs.

The coordinator has the primary responsibility for communicating Skånes konstförenings activities to various audiences via website, press contacts, personal meetings and other forms of communication.

Job description
The coordinator is responsible for communication and marketing, which also includes updating the calendar, press contacts, writing press releases and emails to the board. The coordinator acts as the association’s voice in social media and across other social platforms.

The coordinator communicates with the staff regarding exhibition and programme texts and is responsible for the editing, publishing and delivery of this information. The coordinator supports the board’s activities, organizing and archiving protocols and other documents. The coordinator organizes the weekend guarding schedule with Board members. Along with the director, the coordinator will assist with preparations for programme events.

In consultation with the director, the coordinator will prepare and follow up on board assignments,  assisting with annual reports, applications, reports, etc. The co-ordinator, with the support of the director, will regularly seek and apply for funding for Skånes konstförening.

The coordinator should be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

The coordinator should have excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Swedish and English (additional language skills are advantageous). She or he should demonstrate strong abilities in managing and delivering content and communications to different audiences. The applicant should have experience working with Indesign, Photoshop, Word and Excel.

The coordinator should be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Strong organizational ability and a high degree of initiative is desirable.

The coordinator works with a diverse range of people on a variety of tasks (including editorial work, installation processes, etc.) and should therefore possess excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.

The coordinator uses their contacts actively, proactively suggests ways of improving efficiency of workflows, more efficient use of resources and capacity of the organization, contributing positively to Skånes konstförening’s artistic mission.

Knowledge of photo (and possibly video) editing, graphic design (for simple printed matter as well as for the internet) is helpful.

Past experiences
Recent experience of administrative work in the cultural sector is advantageous.
The applicant should have strong knowledge of funding sources and processes and previous experience with writing funding applications and reports.

Proven experience and/or education from the field of art history, cultural studies or similar experiences is required.

The applicant should ideally have strong active networks across the art and cultural sectors in Sweden and abroad, as well as knowledge of individuals, companies and organizations that can contribute to the production of exhibitions and day-to-day operations at Skånes konstförening.
